Everything Sad Movies.
I’ve been a stubborn, angry and moody human being lately which is just totally not acceptable. I needed to regain control, so I decided there’s nothing better than having a good cry. I decided to re-watch a few movies to ensure I was not an emotionless robot. If you ever need to make sure your tear ducts are still normal, try these movies below.
10. The Colour Purple
I remember watching this movie when I was like 13 or 12 and crying like a baby. So when I decided to watch it again, I was expecting the worst. However, the only scene I found myself struggling to keep it together, was where the two sisters desperately cling to each other as Mister tries to tear them apart#gutwrenching
9. Fruitvale station
The only movie where our husband Michael B Jordan’s acting was good. The movie itself is amazing. It speaks out against police violence, and to be honest, at the end of the movie, I lost my shit and cried for 5 minutes straight.
Yes, I watched this movie again, and I cried. I am not sure if I was crying because Jack sacrificed his life or because I knew what was already going to happen and it just upset me, nonetheless I cried. I remember why I cried; Celine Delion’s My heart will go on……… beautiful.
7. Million Dollar Baby
The end is honestly so so sad mainly because I was not expecting it. The part that got me was at the end when Hilary Swank asks Mr Eastwood to help her die in peace, and he sneaks into her room and gives her the lethal injection and goes “ My Darling, and my love” This movie has all the makings of your typical sports drama with a triumphant underdog — until it delivers an emotional sucker punch at the end. Cue the eye flooding.
6. The Boy in the striped pyjamas
Shedding real tears as I type this (jk). This move is a touching movie, and tbh I got to emotionally affected by it, considering the fact that, it is a fictional story. The ending was just brutal for the soul.
5. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 7(b)
I think every Potter-head can understand why this is on my list. Because the series was also coming to an end, please don’t judge me for writing this. I felt so many emotions watching the last movie; uneasy, touched, amused, unamused, impatient, annoyed, depressed, distressed, relieved, panicked, confused, triumphant, ready, comforted. #feels #ripAlanRickman
5. Rocky IV
Hmm. This is one of my all-time favourite movies, and when I say I shed hot tears for this movie, guys, please believe me. I think this is one of the first movies that ever made me cry; the part that had me blubbering was when Apollo’s dies, Adrian’s pissed, and Rocky’s about to leave for Russia to fight Drago. Oh, godddddd.
3. The fault in our stars
If you did not cry in this movie, then you don’t have a soul period. I admit I did not cry the first time I watched this movie, so when I decided to watch it again, I did not prepare myself for the tidal wave of emotions that hit me. Watching poor Hazel Grace deal with the death of her only love is way too much sadness to bear. The soundtrack is also amazing.
2. The impossible
Another tear jerker. It’s based on the tragic events which happened on Boxing Day in Thailand as a Tsunami destroys a resort. It’s set around the perspective of one family which gets separated and tries to find each while the mother is in life-threatening condition. A remarkable story and the reunion will have you wailing..
- Drum roll please*
The Pursuit of Happyness.
Look, Will Smith is my second father, so I hate to see him suffer, also I always feel more emotional when I know a story is not fictional. It’s like; “you mean to tell me someone had to go through this? Damn”. This movie is a continuous sob-fest. You will cry sad, ugly tears while watching the homeless Chris struggle, but then tears of utter happiness after all of his hard work finally pay off.
Now if you’ll excuse me I have something in my eye….
